About Us

Our History and how we accomplish our statement of purpose

The American Society has been around since 1950, and for all of these 58 years our mission has been to strengthen the bond between Brazil and the United States – making life easier for residents from abroad.

These are Americans, of course, but 25 percent of our members are Brazilians and 15 percent are from other parts of the world.

Part of the American Society’s purpose is to keep America’s cultural heritage alive through celebrations of traditional holidays like the Fourth of July, Halloween, Easter, and Thanksgiving.

But we’ve had World Cup parties for Brazil games, we serve caipirinhas at many events, and we're actively involved in the activities of the Canadian, British, and other communities here in São Paulo. The American Society is international.

The American Society of São Paulo is a civil, non-profit association organized on May 10, 1950, with its Acts of Constitution registered in the Second Office for Registration of Instruments and Documents, Book A, No. 3, of the Civil Registry of Legal Entities, under No. 1617 on April 16, 1951
