Recipient for 2025

Christine Winkelmann Soares

Christine Winkelmann Soares has been a remarkable and dedicated member of the American Society of São Paulo since joining in September 2018. From the very beginning, she demonstrated a deep commitment to the community — truly someone who “vestiu a camisa” and embraced AmSoc’s mission wholeheartedly.

Her involvement began through CAC and the SMILE Program, helping organize activities for children supported by partner NGOs. During the pandemic, these efforts adapted to online formats and initiatives such as “boxes of fun,” ensuring continued engagement during a challenging time.

Her contribution quickly expanded across multiple fronts. She led the organization of Pizza Nights for NGO groups, consistently securing donors and ensuring their success. She also became a driving force behind the Silent Auction at AmSoc Galas, where her exceptional organization stood out. From sourcing prizes and coordinating donors to preparing detailed content for the auction site — including photos, descriptions, and pricing — every detail was handled with precision, helping these fundraising efforts run seamlessly.

In 2023, she joined the Board and took on the role of Membership Chair, making a significant impact on both growth and retention. Through a structured and proactive approach, alongside strong networking initiatives such as outreach to U.S. college alumni groups and ideas to recognize long-standing members, membership engagement was meaningfully strengthened.

She also co-founded the Readers Group, creating a lasting and successful initiative that continues to bring members together. Beyond this, she regularly contributed to The Forum, hosted meetings and gatherings, and supported a wide range of events — from children’s activities to sporting events, happy hours, and galas — always showing up and contributing.

Following her Board tenure (2023–2025), she continued her involvement as a member of the Fiscal Review Committee, demonstrating ongoing commitment to governance and transparency. In parallel, she has been a long-standing donor, volunteer, and supporter of the Angel Party, contributing both time and resources over many years.

Through membership development, fundraising, community engagement, and personal generosity, her impact has been both broad and lasting.

It is through this sustained dedication that we recognize the meaningful contribution and legacy of Christine Winkelmann Soares.
