Want to help your children make an impact in São Paulo and understand more about the needs of our community? Join AmSoc Cares, our youth volunteer program for kids ages 7-18. The idea of this program is to offer opportunities for our younger members to volunteer across a wide array of areas across São Paulo.
AmSoc Cares turns 1 year old! In the first year, the AmSoc Cares volunteers have gotten together to build a mobile library for our children’s charities; joined in on clearing land, planting seeds and learning about composting at the Alto do Boa Vista Community Garden; guided participants on the Walk for the Ukraine; helped prepare for the Angel Party; and most recently they all came together to build our Easter Egg Kits.
Now that we are a year old, what have we learned? Our youth volunteer program fills a gap in São Paulo and is a strong bridge to help our youth members connect with their communities in meaningful ways. The kids seem to really enjoy the fact that the participants come from many different schools and a broad age range. For the older kids, it’s been a great mentoring and leadership experience. For the younger kids, it’s been a great first experience in learning how to help out.
The idea of this program is to offer opportunities for our younger members to volunteer across a wide array of areas across São Paulo.
What’s our vision for the future? Over the upcoming year, we would like to work on creating more programs tailored towards pre-teens and teens in order to help them gain leadership skills while also developing their mentoring skills. Within each activity, we’d like to continue to offer roles that younger children can easily fill and enjoy.
We’re really looking forward to more fun events this year, a clothing drive in May, and a chance in June to help one of our charities prepare for their bazaar.
Our program is open to all youth members of AmSoc. Please have your child come join us whenever they can. If you have ideas on volunteer opportunities for the kids, please let us know.
