President’s Holiday Wishes

Updated: Dec 21, 2023

Hello AmSoc members and friends,

As the year draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the many reasons we have to celebrate and be grateful. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who contributed to AmSoc's success this year—whether through donations, event participation, recruiting new members, or spreading the word about our activities. Your various forms of support have made a significant impact, and we truly appreciate it.

I also want to express my gratitude to our dedicated board members, whose tireless efforts and collaboration have been instrumental in propelling AmSoc forward. Your outstanding work not only sustains our organization, but also infuses it with creativity, fun, and inclusivity, embracing over 20 nationalities, diverse people, creeds, ages, and backgrounds. Thank you for your exceptional dedication.

A special shout-out goes to our numerous volunteers whose contributions played a pivotal role in the success of our events. Whether organizing gatherings or assisting in various capacities, your dedication was indispensable.

As we enter the holiday season, let the spirit of generosity endure throughout the year.

This year featured a diverse array of events—over 30 in total—ranging from happy hours and sporting events to networking gatherings, charity initiatives, and readers' group get-togethers. The success of these events, coupled with our members' generosity, empowered us to support our four charities and host a very special Angel Party at Graded on December 9, delighting 245 children and their tias and tios from their homes.

While we did not hold our traditional Gala this year, I'm thrilled to announce that due to a successful year, we made significant donations to our supported charities. We provided Casa da Criança e do Adolescente de Santo Amaro with 20 new mattresses and an array of different hygiene products for their 55 children. Additionally, we addressed roof and interior issues for Lar Tia Edna which has made them ecstatic, since the leaks and other problems had become a big challenge in their day to day lives. For Grupo Primavera in Campinas, we made a financial donation to their PACTO Program, which prepares their older kids for technical schools through a special course.

May 2024 bring us strength and positive energy to achieve all to which we aspire.

Our final action of the year involves assisting the US Marines with their Toys for Tots program. US Consul General David Hodge, along with the Marines, will bring joy to 60 children at Casa da Criança e do Adolescente de Santo Amaro and Projeto Sol closer to Christmas Day.

Thank you for being part of the positive impact AmSoc has had on these children's lives. Your support has helped provide them with better homes, care, and love.

As we enter the holiday season, let the spirit of generosity endure throughout the year. May our collective acts of kindness, empathy, and compassion continue to embody the spirit of AmSoc, fostering unity, warmth, and goodwill whenever we come together.

In conclusion, our 2024 calendar of events is taking shape, and we can't wait to see you participating. Follow us on Instagram @amsocsp to stay updated on our activities.

Whether you're celebrating this time of year in Brazil, the US, or your home country, I extend my warmest holiday wishes to you and your family. May 2024 bring us strength and positive energy to achieve all to which we aspire.

Cheers,

Patricia Campbell
